Colleges, universities and school districts

Faculty and staff wellness challenges, run from one place.

Campus HR and wellness offices use eFit to run movement challenges for faculty and staff: one registration link, groups for each department or campus, automatic activity tracking and results you can share with leadership.

Why campuses run faculty and staff challenges

Colleges ask a lot of their people. Faculty juggle teaching, research and advising; staff keep a campus running through enrollment peaks and budget cuts. Many universities now run seasonal movement challenges for employees through HR or a campus wellness office, often with dozens of departmental teams taking part.

The goals are familiar to any campus HR leader: build connection across colleges that rarely interact, give employees a positive shared experience, and show that the institution cares about the people who serve students. Gallup found employees who strongly agree their employer cares about their wellbeing are 71% less likely to report burnout.

Built for how campuses are organized

  • Groups by department or campus

Give each college, division or location its own group, and compare participation across them.

  • Every job on campus

Groundskeepers, researchers and front-office staff all compete fairly because each person is scored against a goal.

  • Automatic tracking

Activity syncs through Google Health from phones and many tracker apps. Nobody submits weekly logs.

  • Wellness education included

Short Wellness Modules add nutrition, sleep and stress content alongside the movement goal.

  • Before-and-after results

The Baseline and Final Fitness Check gives each participant, and the wellness office, a measurable change.

  • Privacy by choice

Leaderboards are optional, and each participant decides whether their name appears.

A simple plan for your first campus challenge

  1. Pick a window between the busy weeks

Six weeks early in the semester works well. Announce it at a staff meeting or in the HR newsletter.

  2. Create groups for departments

Department rivalry drives sign-ups. Recruit one champion per group to encourage colleagues.

  3. Invite everyone with one link

Participants register, connect their phone and complete the Baseline Fitness Check in one sitting.

  4. Share weekly standings

Post group progress and a short story each week. Celebrate people who reach the goal.

  5. Close and report

The Final Fitness Check wraps up the challenge. Share participation and results with leadership and plan the next season.

Can we run separate groups for each department or campus?

Yes. Create a group for each department, college or campus, and compare participation and scores across groups in the organizer reports.

Is eFit built by educators?

Yes. eFit began as a fitness and wellness platform for college physical education courses and now also runs faculty, staff and workplace challenges.

How is a campus challenge priced?

Pricing is per participant, and the institution can be invoiced for the whole group. Contact us with your expected headcount and we will put together a quote.

What else do participants get besides step tracking?

Short Wellness Modules, a Baseline and Final Fitness Check, badges, a Walking Journey map and a completion certificate for participants who reach the goal.

When is the best time to run a campus challenge?

Early in a semester, before midterms, or in the weeks after winter break. Avoid finals and commencement, when faculty and staff have the least time.
