Connect eFit With Google Health

eFit connects to your activity through Google Health. Link it once and eFit records your steps, workouts, heart rate, and nutrition data automatically every night, and turns the workouts and heart rate into eFit Minutes. There is nothing to upload by hand.

Why eFit uses Google Health

Google Health is Google's central hub for health and fitness data. Your phone, smartwatch, and fitness apps send their data to Google Health, and eFit reads it from there with your permission. One connection covers every device you use.

eFit no longer connects the Google Fit app or the Fitbit app directly. Those older connections have been replaced by Google Health. Your Fitbit, Garmin, and Samsung devices still work, they now send their data through Google Health.

What you need first

  • Android phone: set up Android Health Connect so your tracker's data reaches Google Health. See Connect on Android With Health Connect.
  • iPhone: install the free Google Health app from the App Store and connect it to Apple Health. See Connect eFit on an iPhone.
  • The Google account where your fitness data lives. Note which account this is before you start.

Get the Google Health app

The Google Health app is free and runs on both iPhone and Android. Install it on the phone you carry every day, then sign in with the Google account you will connect to eFit.

Connect in three steps

  1. Open the Fitness Tracker page. Log in to eFit, go to your Dashboard, and select Fitness Tracker. Direct link: /dashboard/sync.php.
  2. Tap "Connect with Google Health". You will be taken to Google to sign in. Choose the account your fitness data lives in.
  3. Approve access. Check every permission box so eFit can read your steps and active minutes, then finish. eFit returns to your dashboard with the connection confirmed.

After this, your activity syncs automatically each night.

Sent to a Fitbit page when you sign in with Google, even though you have never owned a Fitbit? That is a known Google account step, and Sign In With Google Sends You to a Fitbit Page clears it in about two minutes.

What data eFit reads

  • Steps - your daily step count
  • Workouts and heart rate - these become your eFit Minutes: 1 per minute of moderate effort, 2 per vigorous minute (Fitbit and Pixel Active Zone Minutes feed them one-for-one)
  • Heart rate - when your device records it
  • Nutrition data - when a connected app logs your meals

eFit only reads this data. It never changes or deletes anything in your Google account, and you can disconnect at any time.

Works with your data from

  • Fitbit devices
  • Android phones and their built-in step sensors
  • iPhones, through the Google Health app
  • Wear OS and Samsung Galaxy smartwatches
  • Garmin and Samsung Health, through Android Health Connect

Disconnect or switch accounts

To disconnect Google Health or change the account eFit reads from, open Fitness Tracker and select Disconnect Google Health, or see Disconnect or Change Your Tracker.

Told that your Google account needs a Google Health profile after you sign in? That means Google Health has not been set up on your phone yet, or you picked a Google account that does not have it. eFit Says Your Google Account Needs a Google Health Profile covers both.
Stopped by Google itself with “Can’t access this service”, or told you are too young, before you ever reached the permissions screen? That is Google refusing the account, usually because it is supervised through Family Link or issued by a school or employer. Google Will Not Let You Sign In covers all four causes.

Not seeing your activity?
